School is back in session, so stop in for your sports or school physical exam!
Physicals for school are important. Manatee Urgent Care makes it easy for your child to get a required sports or school physical exam:
- Exams can be performed at either of our two locations – Bradenton and Lakewood Ranch
- We are open seven days a week
- Appointments are not required – just walk in
- Physicals are $40 for grades K through 12
Sports Physicals for Kids
Students who wish to participate in interscholastic athletics must have a Preparticipation Physical Evaluation (PPE) performed before they can play. PPEs, or sports physicals, are similar to routine physicals in that a medical history and physical exam are completed, and the doctor takes vital signs and checks your child’s vision.
The purpose of a PPE is to help ensure that your child is healthy enough to safely participate in sports. Following up on any health issue is a good idea to get your athlete ready for game time.
School Physicals
Students in grades K – 12 who are starting school in Florida for the first time must present a record of a physical exam completed within the past 12 months. A specific form is not required, but it is recommended that you use Florida’s standardized School Entry Exam Form. It must be completed by a healthcare provider licensed in the U.S. to perform physical exams.
Students transferring to a Florida school from another state can use a comparable form from that state as long as it has been completed within one year.
Why Choose an Urgent Care for a School Physical?
Scheduling an appointment with your primary physician can take time. Often your child needs a sports physical as soon as possible, and at an urgent care clinic, we have medical professionals more than capable of providing a school sports physical quickly.
School physical examinations protect your athlete from issues and make sure that they are eligible to play or eligible to attend school through a student physical exam. Reach out to us today and let us take care of that for you.
